Technology TransferWe have discovered a novel type of sub-micron polysaccharide particle, PHYTOSPHERIX, which we have developed into a promising industrial technology. PHYTOSPHERIX particles are high molecular weight polysaccharide single molecules that have many desirable properties such as high monodispersity, uniform surface chemistry, biodegradability and non-toxicity, and they are easily soluble in water, giving clear solutions with no significant viscosity even at high concentrations. The technology is being developed by our start-up company, Mirexus Biotechnologies, which is seeking partnerships with industry to develop innovative products based on this technology.
