Abstract

The popular view of the origin of our universe is that the universe grew out of a big bang which eventually led to all the matter and everything else that we see around us using a paradigm called inflation. String theory being the fundamental theory of nature, should be able to explain what happened at the dawn of time, and in particular the concept of inflation, big bang etc. In this talk I'll summarise how using techniques of string theory we have been able to form a consistent theory of the universe that not only sheds light on the origin of our universe, but also the subsequent future evolution of our universe.
