The University of Guelph’s Physics Department will host a celebration of Professor John Simpson at the University’s Arboretum Centre, commencing at 1.30 pm on Saturday 6 May 2017. John passed away on 23 August 2016 and an In Memoriam can be found in the News section of this website.
We intend this to be an informal event. Between 2.00 and 3.00 pm we will have affectionate reminiscences from a small number of speakers. Prior to and after that there will be time for relatives, family, friends, and physics colleagues from Guelph and elsewhere to meet, mingle and remember a remarkable man. Refreshments will be provided.
In order to help us plan the event we would appreciate knowing if you expect to attend; please contact Iain Campbell at the address below. We are pleased that we already have many positive responses to our announcement within the In Memoriam piece.
The Arboretum Centre is east of the main campus as you will see on the university map. Just click on “Arboretum Centre” in the left-side column. The main entry is on Stone Road East, 100 m west of the Stone E. & Victoria S. intersection. Proceed up a slight hill until you encounter two good-sized parking lots on your left, and the Centre will be on your right just beyond the second lot. Although the official start is at 1.30, the Arboretum doors will be open from 1.15.
