The University of Guelph’s Physics Department will host a celebration of Professor John Simpson at the University’s Arboretum Centre on 6 May 2017. John passed away on 23 August 2016 and an In Memoriam can be found in the News section of this website.
We intend this to be an informal event. We will have affectionate reminiscences from a small number of speakers and plenty of time for relatives, family friends, and physics colleagues from Guelph and elsewhere to mingle and remember a remarkable man. Refreshments will be provided.
In order to help us plan the event we would appreciate knowing if you expect to attend. We are pleased that we already have a goodly number of responses to our announcement within the In Memoriam piece. Please contact Iain Campbell at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would also appreciate receiving some suitable photographs that we might assemble into some sort of presentation.
The Arboretum Centre is east of the main campus as you will see on the university map. Just click on “Arboretum Centre” in the left-side column
The main entry is on Stone Road East, 100 m west of the Stone E. & Victoria S. intersection. Proceed up a slight hill until you encounter two good-sized parking lots on your left, and the Centre will be on your right just beyond the second lot. The actual time of day has not yet been set but will most likely be around 2 pm.
