Congratulations to Phys Phest 2011 award winners!

Phys Phest, a symposium of talks by M.Sc. students who are completing their first year in our program, was held on September 7th.

The audience was treated to eight excellent presentations on a diverse range of high-quality research. The presentations were judged by members of the audience.

First prize was awarded to Kyle Reiter for his presentation, "Surface Plasmon Resonance Imaging of the Enzymatic Degradation of Cellulose Fibers".

Congratulations to Guelph physics student winners at 2011 CAP Congress

Guelph students did very well in the best student oral presentation competition at the Canadian Association of Physics Conference held at Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John’s Newfoundland June 12 0- 17th, 2011:

Adam Pound to receive 2011 Governor General’s Gold Medal

Congratulations to Adam Pound who has been awarded the 2011 Governor General's Gold Medal. The Governor General's Gold Medal is awarded each year for outstanding academic achievement at the graduate level of study. This award will be presented at the Graduate Studies convocation ceremony on Tuesday, June 15th, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.

Michael Barriault wins best student poster prize at 2011 SHARCNET Research Day

Congratulations to Michael Barriault (an M.Sc. student with Luis Lehner), who won the prize for best student poster at the 2011 SHARCNET Research Day. The title of the poster was: 
Dynamical constraint enforcement in plasma environments.

2011 SHARCNET Research Day was held at Sheridan College on Friday May 19th.

Physics Club and Nanoscience Club win prizes at College Royal 2011

Congratulations to the Physics Club and the Nanoscience Club on winning the following awards at College Royal 2011:

  • Third prize for Overall Exhibit - Nanoscience Club
  • First prize for Overall Display - Physics Club
  • First prize for CPES Display - Physics Club

Adam Pound awarded NSERC postdoctoral fellowship

Congratulations to Adam Pound on being awarded an NSERC postdoctoral fellowship.  The Postdoctoral Fellowships Program provides support to a core of the most promising researchers at a pivotal time in their careers. The fellowships are also intended to secure a supply of highly qualified Canadians with leading edge scientific and research skills for Canadian industry, government and universities.
