Guelph Physicists Part of Research Group Behind 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics

On October 6, 2015 the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics to Takaaki Kajita, Super-Kamiokande Collaboration University of Tokyo, Kashiwa, Japan and Arthur B. McDonald, Sudbury Neutrino Observatory Collaboration, Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada. They were awarded “for the discovery of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass”.

Mateusz Buraczynski to receive the 2015 Governor General's Silver Medal Award

Congratulations to Mateusz Buraczynski who has been awarded the 2015 Governor General's Silver Medal Award. The Silver medal is awarded to the undergraduate who achieves the highest academic standing upon graduation from a bachelor degree program.

Postdoctoral Fellow Chris Heirwegh wins prize for second best poster at PIXE 2015

Chris Heirwegh won the prize for the second best poster at the 14th International Conference on Particle-Induced X-ray Emission in Capetown, South Africa 25 Feb. -3 March 2015. The poster was titled \"Comparison of X-ray mass attenuation coefficients used in PIXE analysis of silicate minerals and glasses:, with authors C. M. Heirwegh, I. Pradler, J.L. Campbell.

Fall 2014 Dean Scholarship Awardees

Congratulations to Mateusz Buraczynski, Dylan Cooper, Rebecca Frederick, Steven Large, Erin McGee and William Dawkins on being awarded the Dean's Scholarship for Fall 2014.

The Dean's Scholarship

The Dean's Scholarship is offered by the Board of Governors. Recipients are selected by each of the College Awards Committees. The primary academic criteria is placement on the Dean's Honours List for two consecutive semesters.

PhysPhest 2014 Results

PhysPhest 2014 was held on the September 3rd. The top three speakers were selected by the general audience, the results are as follows:
