Congratulations to Carley Miki, the 2022 Ross Hallett Memorial Scholarship in Biophysics Winner!
Carley Miki obtained her Honours BSc in Nanoscience from the University of Guelph in 2012, with a Minor in Physics. In her honours project, Carley used rheology to measure the viscosity of water-based dispersions of phytoglycogen (PG) nanoparticles that are produced in the kernels of sweet corn. She observed a very large increase in the zero-shear viscosity as the PG concentration was increased. A graduate student built on her initial results, and this led to a 2018 Soft Matter paper on which Carley was a co-author.

2022 CEPS Undergraduate Poster Session
Congratulations to all the participants in the 2022 CEPS Undergraduate Poster Session (CUPS). The event was a great success, and the students did a fantastic job showcasing some of the amazing undergraduate student research that is being done in our College! From the feedback I received during the event, the judges and visitors to the session were impressed with all the student presentations and the quality of their scientific research.
