Professor Martin Williams awarded the 2017 CAP Medal for Excellence in Teaching Undergraduate Physics

Congratulations to Professor Martin Williams on being awarded the 2017 CAP Medal for Excellence in Teaching Undergraduate Physics! The award recognizes Professor Williams for "his exceptional ability to lead students to high academic achievements in physics through excellence and innovation in teaching and mentoring, for his contribution to curriculum design inspired by the results of Physics Education Research, and for his leadership in promoting the adoption of innovative research-based instructional strategies within the Canadian physics education community."

Stories by 4 U of G Physics Students Will Be Featured on Science Borealis this Spring

Through one of their assignments this semester in PHYS*4300, five U of G undergraduate physics students will soon have a wider audience with whom to share their stories. PHYS*4300 students were required to write a pitch for a story idea to Science Borealis, which was reviewed by their instructor, Joanne O’Meara, as well as the physics/astronomy editor at Science Borealis, Stephanne Taylor. Dr. Taylor completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physics at U of G, and was enthusiastic about collaborating with her alma mater on this project.

Professor Alexandros Gezerlis Receives Tenure

Congratulations to Professor Alexandros Gezerlis on receiving tenure! Alexandros Gezerlis' tenure takes effect immediately and he will also be promoted to Associate Professor, effective July 1st, 2017.
