Abstract

For more than a century, nuclear reactions have been studied, with their applications ranging from the very big (e.g. nuclear weapons) to the very small (e.g. nuclear medicine). In particular, transfer reactions have been widely successful at studying nuclear structure since Rutherford's classic gold foil experiment. In this installment of the graduate seminar series lectures, transfer reactions basics, jargon and theory will be introduced, and its applications studying shape coexistence in Er-160 will be discussed.
