Abstract
Alongside the many exciting research fields that Physics offers, there is a great deal of interest in researching how we teach, and how students learn best. Physics Education Research (PER) offers the opportunity to analytically and empirically examine all aspects of the education process - from fundamentals such as lecture, lab and homework delivery, to larger issues such as gender inclusivity in STEM. I will be discussing current trends in PER, some of the topics and tools that are used, and how PER fits alongside more conventional research in a University department. As Physics students become Physics researchers and teachers, there is ample room to include education research in the CV, and a wide-open field of topics on which to investigate and publish.
