Professor Paul Garrett announced as new Chair of the Department of Physics

Anthony Vannelli, Dean, College of Physical and Engineering Science is pleased to announce that Professor Paul Garrett has agreed to become the next Chair of the Department of Physics beginning a five year term on July 1, 2015. Dean Vannelli's memorandum is quoted below:

"I am pleased to announce that Professor Paul Garrett has agreed to become the next Chair of the Department of Physics beginning a 5 year term on July 1, 2015. Paul received unanimous support from faculty, staff and students in the written and oral feedback received by the Chair Selection Committee. The Chair Selection Committee unanimously recommended his appointment as Chair.

I also want to use this opportunity to thank Professor Leonid Brown for the outstanding job that he did running the department as Interim Chair.

I ask all of you to join me in congratulating Paul.

In closing, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the members of the Search Committee (listed below) and to all those who attended the various presentations/discussions and/or responded to the committee's request for input.
