Lia Formenti receives the 2019 Governor General's Silver Medal Award

Congratulations to Lia Formenti who has been awarded the 2019 Governor General's Silver Medal Award. The Silver medal is awarded to the undergraduate who achieves the highest academic standing upon graduation from a bachelor degree program. 

In addition to the Governor General's award, Lia has received a number of awards and scholarships during her BSc:

• CEPS Graduation Prize, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, University of Guelph (Jun 2019)
  Awarded for graduating from a College of Engineering and Physical Sciences Honours program with the highest cumulative average.
• J.B. Reynolds Graduation Medal in Physics, Department of Physics, University of Guelph (Jun 2019)
  Awarded for graduating from the Department of Physics with the highest cumulative average in upper year physics courses.
• NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS-M), National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (Apr 2019)
  Awarded to students who demonstrate high achievement in undergraduate or early graduate studies to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly-qualified personnel.
• R.C. Moffat Memorial Scholarship, Department of Physics, University of Guelph (Mar 2019)
  Awarded to the student with the highest cumulative average in the Department of Physics with at least 10.0 and below 19.75 credits.
• J. L. Campbell Scholarship, Department of Physics, University of Guelph (Mar 2018)
  For having one of the highest averages in upper year physics courses.
• Dean's Scholarship, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, University of Guelph (Oct 2017)
  For having one of the highest averages in the College of Physical and Engineering Sciences for two consecutive semesters
• James L. Hunt Scholarship, Department of Physics, University of Guelph (Mar 2017)
  Awarded to the student with the highest cumulative average having completed 10.0 or more credits in any major offered by the Department of Physics.
• Dean's Scholarship, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, University of Guelph (Oct 2016)
  For having one of the highest averages in the College of Physical and Engineering Sciences for two consecutive semesters
• Highdale Farms Scholarship, University of Guelph (Oct 2016)
  For students in semesters 3 through 6 with at least a 75% cumulative average and whose primary area of study is related to the natural sciences. The award is based on academic proficiency.
• Copernicus Scholarship Award, Department of Physics, University of Guelph (Mar 2016)
  For achieving one of the highest combined averages in the courses Electricity and Magnetism I and Thermal Physics.
• Tony and Anne Arrell Bursary, University of Guelph (Nov 2015)
  For exceptional academic performance.
