Guelph Physics YouTube page surpasses 1 million views!

The Guelph Physics YouTube page has reached a milestone worthy of note, hearing in December from YouTube that their page had surpassed 1 million views.

Since its inception 6 years ago, the Guelph Physics YouTube page has acted as a library of the materials produced by the Department’s Digital Content Team. This includes student and faculty profiles, educational content, lecture videos, monthly star gazing guides, community outreach, archival footage and live streams spotlighting careers in physics.

‘The success of our content is really a testament to the hard work of our undergraduate research students and the dedication of our faculty and staff to innovating new and engaging ways to teach physics.’ commented Orbax, Production Specialist for Physics Education Content and head of the Digital Content Team. ‘While a million views is fairly commonplace on YouTube for videos of people falling off bicycles, for a channel consisting primarily of fairly niche educational content, this is an outreach achievement to be proud of’.

Since 2017, the Digital Content Team has employed 7 undergrad student researchers, many of them for multiple semesters or even years. While the viewers are primarily Canadian, the Guelph Physics YouTube page also sees high viewership in India and the United States.
