The Dean's Scholarship is offered by the Board of Governors. Recipients are selected by each of the College Awards Committees. The primary academic criteria is placement on the Dean's Honours List for two consecutive semesters.
Professor Ralf Gellert is interviewed in Globe and Mail article on the Rosetta mission. Professor Gellert helped build the Alpha Particle X-Ray Spectrometer (APXS), one of Philae's 10 instruments.
James R. Stevens, University Professor Emeritus, was awarded a medal commemorating the 100 years of the revival of Warsaw University of Technology "in recognition of outstanding merit for the development of the Warsaw University of Technology, supporting its activity, building the image and promoting the University". In his long and fruitful career at the University of Guelph, Jim has supervised seven faculty and students from the Warsaw University of Technology, who came to our Physics Department during 1991-1998 period as postdoctoral fellows or visiting scientists.
Congratulations to Dr. Martin Williams. He will be awarded the Distinguished Professor Award for Innovation in Teaching. at the Annual University of Guelph Faculty Association (UGFA) Teaching Awards & New Member Reception to be held October 16, 2014. The recipients of these awards are selected from nominations made by students and colleagues in recognition of their impressive contributions to University teaching and library services.
Jackie Marsh worked in the Department of Physics for 29 years as a Biophysics Technician at the University of Guelph. She passed away yesterday at the age of 82 from ALS.
